This website belongs to Kanara Education Society, Kumta, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka in India.

The pioneers founded the Kanara Education Society on fully democratic set up in the year 1915 to look after the first private higher secondary school, opened in Kumta town, formerly known as The New English School (1908). It had 10 pupils and 6 teachers on the opening day, and was housed temporarily, in a residential building owned by the local Pai family. Later the school was renamed as GIBB HIGH SCHOOL (1911).

A large number of students received secondary education and were benifited by this society. This society with the help of generous hearted and resolute minded people have lit the lamp of education in Kumta town, Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.
